Whanganui Repair Cafe

Operating since 24 March 2024, our monthly events aim to recreate a repair-not-replace culture as skilled volunteers do their best to repair your items. These specialists provide info about local repair workplaces and parts suppliers, help diagnose faulty items and offer maintenance advice.

Our dedicated team of enthusiastic volunteers includes hosts and café organisers. New volunteers regularly join us, bringing a variety of skills and experience. If you are interested in volunteering, do come and check us out.

Bring items to be fixed including clothes (but not zips), soft toys and bed linen; costume jewellery; ceramics; picture frames; bikes; garden tools; musical instruments; small electrical appliances; plastic, leather, metal and wooden items. Darning and knife sharpening too.

We have basic supplies to fix items. If specific parts are needed, please bring them along or we can advise you on what is needed. If we can't fix an item, we will refer you to someone who might be able to. There is no fixed charge for repairs, but a donation is appreciated to cover costs.

Events are always on the last Saturday each month from 11am to 1pm, with the last repair accepted at 12.30pm.

Occasionally, an extra event is held, such as during La Fiesta (summer) and Winter Wonderfest (August).
